Dallas Theater Center announced today the award-winning cast and creative team for the world premiere new musical The Fortress of Solitude, a co-production with The Public Theater in New York City. The Fortress of Solitude is based on the nationally best-selling novel of the same name by 2005 MacArthur Fellow Jonathan Lethem. The musical is conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin, with a book by Itamar Moses, and music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. The Fortress of Solitude opens with previews on March 7 and runs through April 6. Dallas Theater Center brings a brand new adaptation of the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol to the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center for the first time. DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty wrote the new adaptation and will direct the holiday favorite, with choreography by Joel Ferrell. A Christmas Carol makes its Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre debut on November 21 and runs through December 24. Terry Martin, producing artistic director of WaterTower Theatre, today announced an extension of SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, which is now playing. The musical revue will be extended for one week through Sun., Aug. 19 with the addition of five performances: Wed., Aug. 15 at 7:30PM, Thurs., Aug. 16 at 7:30PM, Fri., Aug. 17 at 8PM, Sat., Aug. 18 at 8PM and Sun., Aug. 19 at 2PM.
