The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences will celebrate the career of Alex North (1910-1991), the 15-time Oscar®-nominated composer, with a centennial salute featuring a screening of "The Misfits" (1961) on Friday, September 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Los Angeles based Producer Robert McGarity recently started a label designed to record and preserve Broadway 'flops' from the 1950s and 1960s. Toronto based Actor Michael Lazarovitch was cast in the lead role of the label's second effort - the new Studio Broadway Cast Recording of COME SUMMER. Robert and Michael both sat down to talk with BWW about this unique new endeavour.

This event is hosted by Golda Solomon and consists of two sets, one at 6pm and one at 7pm. Doors open at 5:30pm for early dining and imbibing. Cost of admission is $15 or $10 for students (with ID) and includes one drink. There is no extra charge for staying for the second set.

Cortland Repertory Theatre will take their audience on a magical, musical trip to Scotland in the next production of their 39th season, the classic romance 'Brigadoon', with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, the team best known for writing the musical 'My Fair Lady'.

A new developmental production of Platinum (www.PlatinumTheMusical.com) starring Tony Award nominee Liz Larsen (The Most Happy Fella, A New Brain) and Sarah Litzsinger (Beauty and the Beast, Amour) will be presented by UnsungMusicalsCo. Inc. as part of the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival.

The director, choreographer and design team for Oklahoma!, the classic Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein musical, have been announced. Playing at The 5th Avenue from July 8 through August 6, 2011, the musical will be directed by The 5th's Producing Director Bill Berry (On The Town, West Side Story, Cabaret), with scenic design by Walt Spangler, costumes by Alejo Vietta, lights by Tom Sturge, and sound by Zach Williamson.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the full slate of 27 musical productions, a developmental reading series and special events for their seventh annual festival. This year's Festival will begin September 27th and continue through October 17th. A full breakdown of this year's performances follows.
