Aquila Theater Announces Complete Cast For 'CATCH 22'

AQUILA THEATRE (Peter Meineck, Artistic Director) is proud to announce for complete cast for the World Premiere of the stage adaptation of Joseph Heller's Catch 22, adapted and directed by Peter Meineck: joining the previously announced John Lavelle (The Graduate on Broadway) will be Mark Alhadeff (currently appearing in Bedroom Farce; prior to that, Power of Darkness at the Mint), David Bishins (whose numerous NY credits include A Mother, a Daughter and a Gun with Olympia Dukakis; Sympathetic Magic at Second Stage; Boys in the Band), Chip Brookes (making his Off-Broadway debut), Christina Pumariega (last seen in A Midsummer Night's Dream at Hartford Stage, directed by Lisa Peterson and All Eyes And Ears at INTAR, directed by Eduardo Machado), Craig Wroe (seen in Miss Evers' Boys in the West End and Off Broadway at Barrow Street in An Oak Tree), and Richard Willis (more than a dozen Aquila productions including Julius Caesar, The Tempest, The Importance of Being Earnest, Hamlet, The Man Who Would Be King, and others).

'Aah! Scrooge Must Die!' to Run at The Actors' Gang Dec. 6 - Jan. 10

The Actors' Gang puts the 'X' in Xmas with Aah! Scrooge Must Die!, a rambunctious and very raunchy retelling of Dickens' beloved classic tale. Leave the kids at home - this one is uproariously NC-17. Performances take place Saturday, December 6 through January 10 at The Actors' Gang in the Ivy Substation at 9070 Venice Blvd. in downtown Culver City.

Peter Wing Healey Presents New Play THYESTES' FEAST Starting 10/26

Peter Wing Healey, dancer, actor, writer, choreographer, director, known for his portrayal of female characters, will be featured in his new play, THYESTES' FEAST, based on fragments of lost Greek plays set in a high fashion version of the culture of ancient Mycenae.

Columbia Stages Announces 2008-09 Season

COLUMBIA STAGES, the award-winning producing arm of Columbia University's Graduate Theatre Program, announces its 2008-2009 season. The highly political season will include Baal and The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht; Euripides' Medea; Big Love by Charles L. Mee; The Woman by Edward Bond; a co-production with Origin Theatre Company; a new adaptation of Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales and the 5th annual New Voices New Play Festival. The 2008-2009 season begins October 22nd at The Riverside Theatre, 91 Claremont Avenue between 120th and 122nd Streets.

'Cymbeline' to Begin October 9th at 78th Street Theatre Lab

CYMBELINE is an epic tale with everything: comedy, tragedy, a princess, long-lost brothers, thwarted lovers, valiant warriors, noble servants, an evil queen, a girl disguised as a boy, a scheming Italian, a snooty Frenchman, some Dutch guy with nothing to say, a sleeping potion, a severed head, a bare bosom (covered for the student matinee), divine intervention, an attack by the Roman Army, and a king just trying to make sense of it all.

Aquila Theatre Company Receives Largest Grant Ever NEH for 'Page and Stage' Program

AQUILA THEATRE COMPANY (Peter Meineck, Artistic Director) is proud to announce that it has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities of $292,585 to launch its newest program, PAGE and STAGE: Theater, Tradition, and Culture in America. No other NY theater company received a grant of this size from the NEH. In fact, this is the largest outright grant to any NY State organization. 'We are thrilled that the NEH is backing this groundbreaking program to combine the performing arts centers and libraries to reach new audiences, ' said Mr. Meineck.
