This past week The Public Theater celerbrated their 2015 Summer Gala, which included a special performance of the free Shakespeare in the Park production of THE TEMPEST, featuring a cast that included Sam Waterston and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and directed by Michael Greif. The summer gala also honored Bernard Spitzer (1924-2014) and Anna Spitzer for their extraordinary support over several years. The 2015 Public Theater summer gala featured appearances by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jonathan Groff, Laura Benanti, Sandra Oh, Peter Dinklage, Alan Rickman, Jane Lynch and many more.

Shrunken Shakespeare Company presented the world premiere reading of Chukwudi Iwuji's masterpiece screenplay IRA on June 8th, 2015. The reading was the centerpiece of the SSC 2015 Spring Gala and was directed by Danya Taymor. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenny Lewis and Jonathan Rice will write the songs for the new musical film SONG ONE, starring Anne Hathaway. Lewis and Rice have already written some original tunes for the movie and will also be scoring the film.
