Call It Courage, adapted from the Newbery Medal-winning children's tale by Armstrong Sperry, will return to the Honolulu Theatre for Youth stage June 14 & 15 as part of the Network of Ensemble Theatre (NET)'s MicroFest USA: Honolulu - A National Summit and Learning Exchange taking place June 13 - 18. The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced nominations for the 2011-2012 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to an enthusiastic crowd of patrons and theatre industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA. The spacious lobby allowed guests to enjoy drinks, hors d'ouevres and the chance to congratulate their colleagues. Guest announcers, Atlanta's own funny men Bryan Brendle, Bart Hansard, Tony Larkin, Aurora Theatre artistic director Tony Rodriguez and Scott Warren shared the list of nominees while playfully riffing on the 2011/2012 Atlanta theatre season.
Stephen King and John Mellencamp's new blues and rock musical, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County had its world premiere at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre back in April, and according to Showbiz411 the show is heading to New York soon. Director Susan V. Booth will bring the show to NYC for a 10-day workshop in September in hopes of finding new investors.

Atlanta's Alliance Theatre launches its world premiere of Stephen King and John Mellencamp's new blues and rock ghost musical tonight, April 11. The show plays now through May 13. King, Mellencamp, director Susan V. Booth and producer T Bone Burnett recently spoke at a press conference about the process of creating the musical.
In her smart comedy The Book Club Play, D.C.-area playwright Karen Zacarías examines the intricacies of book clubs, with their unspoken rules, high-spirited debates and strong bonds formed when least expected. With an ensemble cast featuring Fred Arsenault, Ashlie Atkinson, Rachael Holmes, Eric Messner, Kate Eastwood Norris and Tom Story, this is Zacarías' second collaboration with Director Molly Smith at Arena Stage and is the first work of a Resident Playwright to be produced as part of their three-year residencies through the American Voices New Play Institute. The Book Club Play runs October 7-November 6, 2011 in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.
