The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center has announced Eli Lieb In Concert, a special one-night-only benefit event at the Center's plush and intimate Renberg Theatre today, February 28, at 8pm. The show will be a rare "unplugged appearance" featuring just Lieb and his acoustic guitar.

Family and Community combine with the arts when Cabrillo Music Theatre celebrates their upcoming production of MARY POPPINS with LET'S GO FLY A KITE! Inspired by a key moment in the movie and stage versions of the show, LET'S GO FLY A KITE allows families (and individuals, too) to build and fly their own kites, learn crafts from local artists, and, most importantly, gather together as a community with city officials, community leaders and local businesses for a free afternoon of music, food and fun. LET'S GO FLY A KITE takes place on Sunday, March 8th, 2015, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM, in Carpenter Park, directly outside Cabrillo Music Theatre's home venue, the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

The Music Center named 108 of some of Southern California's most talented high school students as semifinalists* in the 27th annual The Music Center Presents Spotlight program, a free nationally-acclaimed scholarship and arts training program for teens. An important part of The Music Center's fundamental support for arts education, Spotlight provides opportunities for Southern California high school students to acquire the skills they need to pursue their artistic dreams in the performing arts.

After an uphill battle, the LGBTQ community celebrated a victory in Florida when same-sex marriages were finally approved first in Miami-Dade County and then throughout the state and couples promptly applied for marriage licenses and wed. Nowhere was there more celebration than Miami Beach where the LGBTQ community and its advocates have long had a home. Miami Beach has always been a city that welcomes LGBTQ residents and visitors with open arms via a plethora of organizations and events created and designed to specifically lure and cater to this unique group. In addition, the city's HRC (Human Rights Campaign) perfect score of 100 on the US Municipality Index which scores a city on factors like Non-Discrimination Laws, Relationship Recognition and Relationship with the LGBT Community is a testament to the city's commitment to, and embrace of, all its citizens.

Last night (Thursday, Dec. 18) the cast of the smash-hit musical, ROCK OF AGES, celebrated its second anniversary at The Venetian Las Vegas. Following a full standing ovation from the crowded theatre during the show's finale, ROCK OF AGES' raucous narrator Mark Shunock ("Lonny") addressed the house, sharing words of gratitude for the audience and community's ongoing support of the production. At the conclusion of his speech, the company was presented with a commemorative '80s-themed cake, replicating the show's set and featuring members of the cast designed by Carlo's Bakery, made famous by TLC's Cake Boss Buddy Valastro.
