A provocative new play currently in development is getting its first staged reading on June 27 at Pearl Studios for industry professionals and invited guests.

50 Shades! The Musical Parody (www.50ShadesTheMusical.com) will end its engagement at The Elektra Theatre (300 W. 43rd Street) on April 26th. Directed by Al Samuels and Rob Lindley, 50 Shades! The Musical Parody is produced by Emily Dorezas, Al Samuels, Andrew Asnes, Rob Kolson, Brett McDonald and 50 Shades Tour LLC. The show recently celebrated its oneyear anniversary in New York, and at the time of closing, 50 Shades! The Musical Parody will have played 453 performances.

ARIELLE JACOBS who appeared on Broadway and in the touring company of IN THE HEIGHTS and STACIA FERNANDEZ, currently appearing on Broadway in MAMMA MIA!, have joined the cast of BARCELONA in the roles of 'Julianna' and 'Kathryn'.

CAP 21 will present a staged reading of BARCELONA, a new original musical featuring book and lyrics by Christine Toy Johnson and music and lyrics by Jason Ma, directed by Alan Muraoka. The industry presentation will be performed Oct. 2nd in the CAP 21 Theatre in New York City.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and Mount Elise Entertainment, in association with Kim Vasquez / Gray Lady Entertainment, present the American premiere of DEPLOYED the musical. With a book, music and lyrics by Jessy Brouillard, music direction by Martyn Axe, and direction by Mindy Cooper, DEPLOYED begins its limited engagement in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 W. 42nd Street) on Wednesday, July 16th, 2014. Featuring Natalie Toro, (Les Miserables, A Tale of Two Cities), Janice Landry, Nina Negron and Bryant Martin, BroadwayWorld brings you a first look of the DEPLOYED cast suited up and in action below!

Recently the NYMF production of DEPLOYED the musical gave fans a sneak peek into their rehearsal process. With a soaring pop rock score and set against the epic backdrop of a military base in Baghdad, DEPLOYED follows Emily's emotional journey. Our heroine develops an unlikely friendship with her interpreter, Laila, as she trains Iraqi women. Laila teaches Emily to appreciate others' suffering and to realize the enemy she's fighting is herself. When Emily finally lets go of her inner demons, a secret from the past comes back to wreak its revenge. They cannot forget...but can they forgive?

DEPLOYED the Musical is set to open at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre on July 16 as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and here's a glimpse of the actors in the rehearsal studio in the final stages of production. Watch the video below!

Hello again Broadway World readers! Things are trucking along nicely with 50 Shades! We are all finally coming down from the high of opening and going about the business of doing 8 shows a week with a bit less fanfare. Still we are having a blast and enjoying strutting our stuff for our amazingly fun audiences! We are also continuing to enjoy hanging out with each other and just having a ball!

Hello Broadway World readers! We did it! We opened our show!! And it was amazing! Such a fun night full of old friends and new ones and such an enthusiastic, supportive crowd. It was everything I had hoped it would be and more. After the curtain call we all came backstage and had a champagne toast and yelled and screamed like crazy people! It was great!
