The Huntington Theatre Company will open its 2016-2017 season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George, Stephen Sondheim's stunning masterpiece about love, inspiration, and "the art of making art." Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (A Little Night Music) will direct. Performances will run September 9 - October 16, 2016 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre. Tickets are now on sale to the general public.

Casting has been announced for the new musicals in development at Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Music Theater Conference later this month. Among the actors premiering new work are Adam Chanler-Berat, Erin Davie, Colin Hanlon, Kevin Mambo, Matt Von Roderick, Christina Sajous, and Remy Zaken.

The American Theatre Wing just celebrated its 2016 Jonathan Larson Grants recipients: Cesar Alvarez (book, music and lyrics), Nikko Benson (music and lyrics), Carson Kreitzer (book and lyrics), and Sam Salmond (book, music, and lyrics).

We are never too old for heroes. They are the stuff of which dreams are made. Dreams like creating a new musical and offering it up to the world. And it works really well when the new musical is about finding your heroes, or, maybe even becoming one for yourself. Enter Fallout, a new musical by DC-native Nick Blaemire and musician/composer Kyle Jarrow, which just recently had a concert presentation at Feinstein's/54 Below in New York.

The contestants will be competing in an 8 week elimination style contest for a $1000 cast prize and paid bookings at RISE Bar with their respective solo show. Join Theatreworks USA on Monday, March 14th (6:30 PM to 9:30 PM), for a One-Night Only Benefit Cocktail Party at the dazzling Standard Hotel East Village Penthouse (25 Cooper Square). Due to demand, The New Group has announced a second extension for Sam Shepard's Buried Child, now playing through April 3. Originally set to play through March 13, an extension through Sunday, March 27 was recently announced for this limited Off-Broadway engagement. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production features Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris,Amy Madigan, Larry Pine, Rich Sommer, Paul Sparks and Nat Wolff. The show just opened last night at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street) and BroadwayWorld was there. Check out photos below!

Amelie, A New Musical won the hearts of Bay Area audiences this fall, and according to the Record, it might soon win the hearts of New York audiences. Director Pam MacKinnon revealed in a recent interview that she hopes the show will arrive on Broadway in the next year and a half.

It was 20 years ago when Sarah Jessica Parker starred Off-Broadway in A.R. Gurney's off-beat comedy about a man and his dog, SLYVIA. Just last night her hubby Matthew Broderick had the honor of opening in SLYVIA on Broadway, joined by Annaleigh Ashford as Sylvia, with Julie White and Robert Sella. Amelie, A New Musical continues to win the hearts of Bay Area audiences.
