Arden Theatre Company continues its 27th season of great stories with Under the Skin, a world premiere by local playwright Michael Hollinger. Terrence J. Nolen directs. Under the Skin runs from January 15, 2015 - March 15, 2015, on the Arden's Arcadia Stage at 40 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia. The development of Under the Skin was funded in part by the Independence Foundation New Theatre Works Initiative.

Meredith McDonough, who previously worked on the new hit musical Fly By Night, returns to make her DTC directorial debut in this comedy about books and the people who love them. The Book Club Play begins previews on Thursday, January 1, 2015 with a Pay-What-You-Can performance and runs through Sunday, February 1.

The Guthrie Theater presents the 7th House Theater production of Jonah and the Whale: A New Musical, a reimagining of the familiar Old Testament tale, set to original bluegrass and folk music.
BroadwayWorld has just learned that a stage version of The Exorcist is currently in the works, and Tony nominee Sean Mathias is on board to direct the project. The play, adapted by John Pielmeier, enjoyed a run at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse in 2012, starring Richard Chamberlain and Brooke Shields. Production details have not yet been announced.
Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.
Bowman Wright, last seen as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Arena Stage's The Mountaintop, will tackle the role of King in August Wilson's classic drama King Hedley II at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Wright joins the previously announced E. Faye Butler as Ruby. Under the direction of Timothy Douglas, King Hedley II runs February 6-March 8, 2015 in the Fichandler Stage.

Sherlock Holmes battles one of his greatest mysteries to date at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, a world-premiere adaptation from Tony Award-winning playwright Ludwig (Broadway's Lend Me a Tenor). Adapted from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved The Hound of the Baskervilles, this fast-paced comedic tale of murder, intrigue and a wild hound is directed by Amanda Dehnert (Arena Stage's The Fantasticks) as part of Arena Stage's 65th anniversary season. A co-production with McCarter Theatre Center, Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery runs January 16-February 22, 2015 in the Kreeger Theater.
HAM: A Musical Memoir, a new theatrical event based on Sam Harris' book, HAM: Slices of a Life (a collection of stories and essays published by Simon & Schuster) will premiere at Theater 511 at Ars Nova in the New Year. This innovative and exciting hybrid theatrical concept is the culmination of Harris' successful 30 year career as actor, vocalist and, now, author. HAM: A Musical Memoir will play a limited engagement, with preview performances beginning Thursday, January 8, 2015, with an opening night set for Monday, January 12, 2015.
Forward Flux Productions will present the North West Regional premiere reading of Barbara Blumenthal-Ehrlich's beautiful new play Still Life at the next Flux Salon gathering in Seattle. In addition to the reading, there will be a musical performance by beat-box artist Zeke Keeble. The Flux Salon presents new works by fresh voices in intimate spaces throughout the city, and this marks the second in a series of three Salons featuring plays by female playwrights.
