Capital Stage continues its 2017-18 Season: Future Tense with the Sacramento Premiere of Luna Gale by Award Winning Playwright Rebecca Gilman. This 2015 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award Winning play tells the story of a fight for who and what is best for the future of baby Luna. Luna Gale will be the second production of Capital Stage's 13th Season, and will run from October 18 - November 19, 2017.

As a part of its mission to develop new plays and playwrights, Capital Stage presents its ninth annual new works festival PLAYWRIGHTS REVOLUTION. This year Capital Stage's reading committee reviewed over 350 script submissions from playwrights across the world. This week's festival features the four finalists. From July 25 - 28 these plays will be presented at staged readings by local professional actors and directors at the Capital Stage studios in the E. Claire Raley Studios for the Performing Arts. Capital Stage invites you to be a part of the development of the world's newest plays!

The Playwrights Foundation's 38th Annual Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF) runs July 17-26, 2015 at the Tides Theatre in San Francisco. BAPF 2015 builds on the festival's historic legacy of innovation in theater that then moves to theaters across the country.

Back by popular demand, THE SANTALAND DIARIES by David Sedaris returns to Capital Stage with the universally praised Aaron Wilton reprising the role of Crumpet the Elf! Capital Stage opens its 8th season with the Sacramento premiere of ENRON by Lucy Prebble. Jonathan Rhys Williams, Aaron Wilton, Shannon Mahoney and Gary S. Martinez head the cast when Sacramento's Capital Stage presents Lucy Prebble's award-winning, savagely comic tale of greed, loss and corporate corruption, ENRON. San Jose Stage Company lands the regional premiere of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. The brash and irreverent rock musical, about the country we live in and the leaders we choose, uses a blend of comedy, rebellious theatricality and an emo rock score. Written by Alex Timbers with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson runs now through July 29 and is directed by Rick Singleton. Aurora Theatre Company founding Artistic Director Barbara Oliver, who directed the company's hit production of Ibsen's The Master Builder, returns to helm this fiercely relevant drama, featuring Bay Area stage veteran James Carpenter (The Master Builder) in the title role, and stage and television actress Karen Grassle (Little House on the Prairie) in her Aurora debut.
