NIGHTMARE, New York's most horrifying haunted house and AOL CityGuide's No. 1 rated haunted attraction in New York City has announced each of the Fairy Tales that will be gruesomely staged on the Lower East Side of Manhattan at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center, (107 Suffolk Street between Rivington and Delancey, NYC), September 29 through November 5, 2011.

In what is perhaps the most stylistic NIGHTMARE to date, this year's theme is Fairy Tales. Under the direction of Creator and Co-Director Timothy Haskell, NIGHTMARE: FAIRY TALES stages the original versions of well-known (and some lesser known) fairy tales at their most gruesome and horrific.

On Monday September 19, 2011, the IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, and host comedian Harrison Greenbaum, announced the 2011 recipients at the Seventh Annual IT Awards Ceremony at Cooper Union. This year's nominees represent 169 individual artists, 55 productions and 45 theatre companies. In 2011, the IT Awards had the most individual nominees than in any previous season with 169 nominees.

In 'Wake Up, You're Dead!,' Aaron Haskell of Brooklyn Art Department (www.brooklynartdepartment.com), one of the original designers of Nightmare: NYC's Haunted House, gives us a Halloween-flavored creation myth. It's a De La Guarda-type event and spectacle that adds a late-night attraction to 'La MaMa Puppet Series IV--Built to Perform.' It will be presented October 29 to November 7 in the second-floor Club of La MaMa E.T.C., 74A East Fourth Street.

To add a family theater component to 'La MaMa Puppet Series IV -- Built to Perform,' La MaMa will present Jane Catherine Shaw in a solo show of found object puppetry, 'Folk Tales of Asia and Africa,' from October 16 to November 7.

'Chopin-An Impression,' a virtuoso performance of Chopin's music by a virtuoso puppet troupe, was originally commissioned by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the worldwide celebration of The Year of Chopin 2010, celebrating the bicentennial of the composer's birth in Zelazowa Wola, Poland.
