TALK RADIO to End Off-Broadway Run Tomorrow
by Tyler Peterson
- Sep 26, 2014
Variations Theatre Group's critically acclaimed production of Eric Bogosian's TALK RADIO will conclude its limited engagement tomorrow night (Saturday) at the Chain Theatre. Inspired by the 1984 murder of controversial shock jock Alan Berg, TALK RADIO is set in a Cleveland radio station over the course of Barry Champlain's two-hour broadcast as he's being scrutinized that night by producers fixated on taking the show national, and fueled as always by coffee, cocaine and Jack Daniel's. Barry's jousts with his unseen callers-ranging from a white supremacist to a woman obsessed with her garbage disposal-are interspersed with confrontations by his ex-deejay pal and his sometime girlfriend/producer.

BWW Reviews: Leguizamo's Screamingly Funny GHETTO KLOWN
by Don Grigware
- Oct 11, 2011
When does a one person show click into high gear? Only when the actor in question is up to it. Such is certainly the case with Johnny Legz or John Leguizamo in his autobiographical Ghetto Klown. Klown treats more of Leguizamo's career than Freak, for example, but does trace as well the repercussions the career has had on his personal life. Now at The Montalban, funnyman Leguizamo is a must see. Why?
