HDM Productions to Premiere TROUBADOUR, 10/9

HDM Productions presents TROUBADOUR, a new musical of the life of St. Francis of Assisi, playing a limited-run October 9-November 2, 2009 at The Theater at The Church of the Epiphany Performances play Friday, Saturday and Monday evenings at 8:00PM, with Sunday matinees at 3:00PM. Troubadour's music is written by Bert Draesel, lyrics by John Martin, and direction by John Margulis.

After a sold-out one-week only engagement last Spring, Donal O'Kelly's THE CAMBRIA returns to the Irish Arts Center to run in rep with Roger Guenveur Smith's FREDERICK DOUGLASS NOW. CAMBRIA/DOUGLASS begins previews on Wednesday, September 16 for a limited engagement through Sunday, October 25.

There are those cherished moments in the theater when a performer grips the audience in such a manner that the evening not only becomes the talk of the town, but remains locked forever in the minds of the audiences who were fortunate enough to witness it. Such was the case recently when The Gateway Playhouse in Bellport, NY presented their version of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Without exaggeration, the production became the buzz of the community. Not only were people enormously impressed with the stunning sets and costumes, but they were also bowled over by the brilliant performance of Josh Davis as the Beast.

Leslie Caveny's comedy Love of a Pig began performances at the 45th Street Theatre on October 12, running through October 28. Directed by D.H. Johnson, a portion of the proceeds goes to The Olivieri Center for Homeless Women.

Signature Theatre Company Nominated for 16 AUDELCO Awards

The Signature Theatre Company 2006-2007 season productions of August Wilson's Two Trains Running and King Hedley II have been nominated for 16 AUDELCO Awards, which recognize excellence in black theatre. The winners will be announced on November 19 at a ceremony held at Aaron Davis Hall.
