Andre Watts to Perform Beethoven's 'Emperor' Concerto with Utah Symphony, 3/6-7

Under the baton of guest conductor Hugh Wolff and with guest pianist Andre Watts, the Utah Symphony will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. Commonly called "Emperor," this composition is bookended with two works by the great American composer Aaron Copland, "Fanfare for the Common Man" and Symphony No. 3 on March 6 and 7 at 8 p. m. in Abravanel Hall.

The New York City Ballet presents a World Premiere by NYCB Soloist and Resident Choreographer Justin Peck, which will premiere as part of the Company's annual New Combinations Evening on Wednesday, February 4. Set to Aaron Copland's symphonic score, Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo, the work will feature costumes co-designed by Reid Bartelme, Harriet Jung, and Peck with lighting by Brandon Stirling Baker.

Orange County, Calif.-Jan. 9, 2015-Composer, conductor and teacher Leonard Bernstein, one of the undeniable giants of 20th-century music, and the first American-born conductor to become a major star, becomes the focal point of Pacific Symphony's second "Music Unwound" concert this season, "For the Love of Bernstein." In 1985, a young Carl St.Clair met Bernstein as a conducting fellow at Tanglewood Music Center. A few years later in 1990, St.Clair stepped in for the ailing Maestro and conducted his "Arias and Barcarolles" during what turned out to be Bernstein's last concert. St.Clair would soon be named music director of Pacific Symphony, but the impact of Bernstein's mentoring to St.Clair has remained to this day.

On Friday, March 20, 2015, 8 pm, BARGEMUSIC presents celebrated Ukrainian-born pianist Inna Faliks in a recital featuring the world premiere of Clarice Assad's Godai, five movements for speaking pianist with poetry by Steven Schroeder, paired with two monumental works by Johannes Brahms, rarely heard together on one program: Piano Sonata No. 2 in F-sharp minor, Op. 2 and Piano Sonata No. 3 in F minor, Op. 5. Also featured on the program is Clara Schumann's Romance, Op. 21/#1, “To my friend Brahms.”
