Casting Complete, Sandy Duncan to Star in BECKY'S NEW CAR at Aspen's New Hurst Theatre

Casting is complete for Theatre Aspen's upcoming summer season, reported Artistic Director Paige Price. The award-winning regional theatre unveils the brand new Hurst Theatre in Rio Grande Park on June 24th with two musicals and a comedy. The new theatre tent was installed during a snow storm on May 19th, work on the interior will begin immediately.

STAGE TUBE: First Look at Brooke Shields as Morticia in THE ADDAMS FAMILY!

Stage and screen star Brooke Shields will join THE ADDAMS FAMILY in the role of Morticia beginning Tuesday, June 28 at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). Two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth will play her final performance in the role on Sunday, June 26. Ms. Shields will play opposite Roger Rees, who stars as Gomez. CSC's THE SCHOOL FOR LIES Adds Performances Thru May 29

Classic Stage Company (CSC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen, has added seven additional performances of David Ives' sold-out, highly-acclaimed new comedy, THE SCHOOL FOR LIES, directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie Originally scheduled to close Sunday, May 22, THE SCHOOL FOR LIES will now end its limited engagement Sunday, May 29.

BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO is a new American play by Rajiv Joseph starring Robin Williams in his Broadway acting debut and directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Moisés Kaufman. Recently Tony nominated for Best Featured Actor (Arian Moayed), Lighting Design (David Lander) and Sound Design (Acme Sound Partners & Cricket S. Myers), the production opened March 31, at the Richard Rogers Theatre. Last night, the production received a special visit from Tyne Daly. THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT Extends Bway Run Through July 17!

The producers of Stephen Adly Guirgis' hit new Tony® nominated Best Play THE MOTHER WITH THE HAT (aka The Motherf**ker with the Hat), starring Chris Rock, announced today that the limited engagement has been extended by three weeks and will now play through Sunday, July 17th at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). Directed by Anna D. Shapiro, the play opened to critical acclaim on Monday, April 11, 2011.

HAIR Tour to Play Bushnell Theatre in 2011

According to published reports, as part of The Bushnell Theatre's 2011 season, the national tour of HAIR will play from April 26 through May 11. The tour of Tony award-winning revival has been directed by Diane Paulus with choreography by Karole Armitage.

Douglas Sills & Sara Gettelfinger to Headline THE ADDAMS FAMILY Tour

Douglas Sills, a Tony Award nominee for The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Sara Gettelfinger, last seen on Broadway in A Free Man of Color and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, will star as Gomez and Morticia in the upcoming national tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a new musical based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams. As previously announced, the production will begin performances September 15 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts in New Orleans and will continue on to over 30 additional major markets across North America.

Broadway Next for A.R.T.'s PORGY AND BESS?

The New York Times suggests today that after a widly successful industry presentation in New York on Sunday, the American Repertory Theater's production of Porgy and Bess, starring Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis, David ALan Grier, and Joshua Henry, may be headed to Broadway as early as next season. The production of the Gershwin classic, will open A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season on August 14 at the Loeb Drama Center. Porgy and Bess is written by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin, is adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and Diedre Murray, and will be directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus (Hair).

Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing's 65th Annual Antoinette Perry 'Tony' Awards were announced May 3, 2011 by Tony Award winning actor Matthew Broderick and Tony Award winning actress Anika Noni Rose, at the Tony Award Nominations Announcement sponsored by IBM.

LOMBARDI to Close May 22

The producers of Broadway's LOMBARDI announced today that the show will play its final performance on Sunday May 22. Producers Fran Kirmser and Tony Ponturo said, 'LOMBARDI was a story that we wanted to tell and an idea that we believed in. We wanted to attract both an audience which had never set foot in a Broadway theatre, and to satisfy the traditional theatre goer. Vince Lombardi's remarkable life offered us the opportunity to assemble a cast made in heaven, and a creative dream team.'

2011 Drama Desk Nominations Announced - 12 for THE BOOK OF MORMON, 10 for ANYTHING GOES

The 56th Annual Drama Desk Awards, hosted by Harvey Fierstein, will be held Monday, May 23, at 9:00 PM at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan Center, 8th Avenue and 34th Street. This year, for the first time, a 90-minute Highlights Special of the Drama Desk Awards Ceremony will be televised nationally on OVATION, the national cable network dedicated to presenting creative arts programming to national TV audiences. The ceremony will be given two primetime broadcasts plus four other airings between June 4 and June 19, 2011.
