The 2013 BroadwayWorld San Francisco audience choice awards saw a fantastic number of nominations for theatres throughout Northern California this year, from Fresno's Good Company Players to Modesto's Gallo Center to Broadway Sacramento, San Jose and San Francisco. If only enough time existed for us writers to see every talented cast perform. Here are a few of my favorite productions from 2013 in a brief look back at some of the shows I was fortunate enough to witness.

Aurora Theatre Company presents Bay Area cabaret star Craig Jessup in concert with A SWELL NOËL. This special holiday engagement plays for six performances only, today, December 17-22, at Aurora Theatre Company's intimate Second Stage cabaret performance space, Harry's UpStage, located in the Nell and Jules Dashow Wing at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.
Producers Jayson Raitt, Barbara Whitman, Steven Chaikelson and Second Stage Theatre just announced that Murder For Two composer Joe Kinosian will reprise his Joseph Jefferson Award-nominated performance as 'The Suspects' beginning Monday, January 20, 2014 in Murder For Two at Off-Broadway's New World Stages - Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street), alongside Brett Ryback, who continues in the role of 'Marcus,' the evening's lovable, if not experienced, detective. Murder For Two features book and music by Joe Kinosian, book and lyrics by Kellen Blair and direction by Scott Schwartz.
Producers Jayson Raitt, Barbara Whitman, Steven Chaikelson and Second Stage Theatre present the Kellen and Joe Christmastime Show tonight, Monday, December 16, 2013. Kinosian and Blair herald in the holiday season with their annual festive concert which will include selections from their songbook (including a handful of holiday tunes) performed by some of Broadway's brightest talent. Admission to the post-show 'singback' is exclusive to ticket holders for tonight's performance of Murder for Two. A portion of ticket sales for that performance will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The original cast recording of MURDER FOR TWO, the hit new musical comedy starring Jeff Blumenkrantz and Brett Ryback, will be released digitally on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 by Ghostlight Records. Produced by Joel Moss and executive produced by Kurt Deutsch, the album will be available in stores and everywhere music is sold on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. The physical CD features complete lyrics, never-before-seen photos, a show synopsis by creators Joe Kinosian and Kellen Blair and an essay by Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz. You're a good man, Charlie Brown, but Snoopy is pretty good, too. In fact, he's the head beagle, and he's played with excellence, honor, smarts and lots of puppy charm by Keith Pinto, who so wonderfully portrayed the same character last year in another Peanuts-based musical at the Bay Area's Retro Dome. Of course, it wouldn't be Peanuts without the rest of the gang, present for 42nd Street Moon's production of the clever and always enjoyable musical, "Snoopy."

Admission to the post-show 'singbacks' is exclusive to ticket holders of the December 2, 9, and 16, 2013 performances of Murder For Two. A portion of ticket sales for the designated performances will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Ghostlight Records will release the original cast recording of the hit new musical comedy MURDER FOR TWO in early 2014. MURDER FOR TWO, which was a hit at Second Stage Theatre Uptown before transferring to New World Stages, has already extended its run through March 16, 2014. The show, which was originally scheduled to play through Sunday, January 5, 2014, will now play its final performance on Sunday, March 16, 2014.
Continuing its 21st season, 42nd Street Moon presents the hilarious Rodgers and Hart musical I MARRIED AN ANGEL at the Eureka Theatre (215 Jackson Street). The show follows a wealthy banker who, disillusioned with women, decides the only suitable mate for himself would be an angel. An angel from heaven hears his plea, and after marrying her, he discovers that her perfection includes an inconvenient habit of telling the uncomfortable truth.
