 Southwest Shakespeare takes audiences to ancient Rome and Egypt with its powerful performances of ANTONY & CLEOPATRA, March 17 through April 1 at Mesa Arts Center.

The Southwest Shakespeare Company (SSC) presents its 28th season mainstage repertory production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, directed by Ingrid Sonnichsen for a limited run from now  through March 19th at the Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse. This week marks Alabama Shakespeare Festival's 35th anniversary in Montgomery. From its founding as a summer theatre festival in Anniston in 1972 to its designation as the State Theater of Alabama in 1977 to the stunning performing arts complex in Montgomery (built in 1985), ASF has been a leader in the performing arts throughout the state, region, and country.

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival's spring repertory season will be in full bloom with the openings of two new plays, Around the World in 80 Days in the Festival Theatre and the Tony Award-winning comedy God of Carnage in the Octagon Theatre, on April 20. Four additional performances will take place May 12, 15, 17 and 18 during ASF's final week of the repertory season. Adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel, the play is directed by Diana Van Fossen.
