Robert joined Epic Theatre Ensemble as the company's first Managing Director in 2011. In that capacity, he as served as Executive Producer of Epic's Off-Broadway productions of MACBETH, DISPATCHES FROM (A)MENDED AMERICA, HOLD THESE TRUTHS and BORN WITH TEETH. Prior to joining Epic, Robert spent five summers managing Chautauqua Theater Company at the historic Chautauqua Institution. He has worked as a theater manager and arts management consultant for more than 20 years. He began his management career with American Stage in St. Petersburg, Florida, serving in various positions between 1991 and 1993, moving to public relations director through 1995. That same year, he co-founded Gryphon Productions in Knoxville and served as Executive Director until 2003. During his tenure, the company developed from a fledgling operation to the producer of the largest in-school arts outreach program in the state: The Bard of Education Shakespeare-in-the-Schools Tour. The program reached more than 20,000 students annually. He also produced the critically-acclaimed Smoky Mt. Shakespeare Festival. Robert served as managing director of Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk before returning to his native New York City in 2005. As an arts management consultant specializing in new and emerging organizations, he has steered organizational development and strategic planning with half a dozen companies, including the Naples Philharmonic Center and The American National Theatre. For more than seven years, he served on Chapter Boards for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The Playwrights’ Center is leaving its Franklin Avenue home in Minneapolis’ Seward neighborhood and moving to 710 Raymond Ave., a location with twice the square footage.

Playwrights' Center And Augsburg University Announce Education Partnership


The Playwrights' Center and Augsburg University have signed a Memorandum Of Understanding, entering a formal partnership to offer online, university-accredited playwriting courses to students from multiple universities and colleges across the United States. The course offerings will be guided by Augsburg University's Theater Department in conjunction with the Playwrights' Center. Registration and accreditation will go through Augsburg's Center for Global Education and Experience (CGEE).

Ready! -- two organizations dedicated to rebuilding New York City after Hurricane Sandy and preparing for the next big storm. Audience members (and any individual interested) are welcome to stay after preview performances of Nilaja Sun's one-woman show to discuss and ask questions about the relevant social issues presented in the work. PIKE ST. will begin performances tonight, November 10, 2015 in the experimental theater at Abrons Art Center (466 Grand Street) with post-show forums running from this evening, November 10 until Sunday, November 15, 2015.

Epic Theatre Ensemble has announced post-performance forums lead by scholars, authors, and thinkers, which also includes members of the cast and creative team, immediately following every performance of DISPATCHES FROM (A)MENDED AMERICA, directed by Ron Russell, and HOLD THESE TRUTHS, directed by Lisa Rothe. These Off-Broadway productions are playing in repertory at the Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street). Post Show talk-backs are sponsored by the New York City Council on the Humanities.

The Award winning Epic Theatre Ensemble, now in their 11th year, will present two Off Broadway shows in repertory for their Fall Season. Dispatches From (A)mended America, directed by Ron Russell previews October 10th through 17th and opens on Thursday, October 18th. Hold These Truths, directed by Lisa Rothe, previews October 12th though 20th and opens Sunday, October 21st. They will be performed at the Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street). Both productions were developed at Epic. There will also be post-show discussions following each performance.
