BIO
Melle Phillips is a Brooklyn born and based actor, dancer, singer and writer. With Guyanese roots, she embraces her own cultural perspective as a pathway to understanding others. She completed her formative training with Eleo Pomare and John Micheal Goring in New York before moving to Orlando, Florida where she completed her studies at Osceola County School for the Arts. She holds a B.A. in Creative Writing from Florida State University, and and M.A. in Educational Theatre from New York University where she was a 21st Century Scholar and the recipient of the school's prestigious award for Citizenship in Theatre for her theatrical outreach work. She is a graduate of the Atlantic Theatre Company's Dramatic Conservatory and BADA/Oxford's MIO program. Melle is also a member of the New Victory Teaching Artist Ensemble where she is currently working on curriculum for Romeo and Juliet, Baobab and Speak Up, Act Out(in collaboration with the Lorraine Hansberry project and The Lillies.)
