DOMA Theatre Company Opens its 2012 Season With THE WHO'S TOMMY, 3/23-4/15


DOMA Theatre Company kicks off its 2012 season of musical theater with a revival of The Who's Tommy. Hallie Baran directs the Tony Award-winning rock opera that features a book by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff; music and lyrics by The Who's Pete Townshend; and additional music and lyrics by John Entwistle, Keith Moon and Sonny Boy Williamson. Musical director is Chris Raymond and Angela Todaro choreographs. Performances take place March 23 through April 15 at The MET Theatre in Los Angeles.

Rolly is a typical kid whose boring summer vacation turns into a terrific adventure when he stumbles on the past and ends up in 10th Century France. There he encounters Princess Aurora, a feisty 12 year old girl who longs to be a knight and travel the world. Aurora's parents don't let her leave the castle walls because of a secret curse that was put on her when she was born. Despite all their protection, Aurora pricks her finger on a spindle and the curse comes to pass - she sleeps for a thousand years. Rolly, back in the present, finds the sleeping Aurora and wakes her up. The two friends are reunited and Aurora gets to discover the world outside the castle at last!

Making Books Sing, the New York-based company dedicated to turning books for young readers into musical works for the stage, will present the world premiere of the new family musical JOS? LIM?N: THE MAKING OF AN ARTIST - with Book & Lyrics by Barbara Zinn Krieger and Music by Charles Greenberg, with performances set for the Lovinger Theatre at Lehman College in The Bronx; Symphony Space in Manhattan; the Goldstein Theatre at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn; and Stanford Lively Arts in Stanford, CA. Brad Malow directs, with choreography by Eric Jackson Bradley.
