Kathrin King Segak

Kathrin's career began in Greenwich Village at the height of the New York folk music scene of the 1960s. Billed as Kathy King (and still in high school), she shared a bill at the Fat Black Pussycat, a coffee house on MacDougal Street, with Richie Havens, Tiny Tim and the impressionist comic David Frye. She joined up with eight other singer/musicians who became the house group at the Cafe Au Go Go, which included Stephen Stills and Richie Furay. Kathrin toured as one of Bobby Vinton’s backup singers, performing at the Copacabana in NY, the Coconut Grove in LA, and on The Ed Sullivan Show.

She turned to musical theater, making her debut in the original production of Oh! Calcutta! and later worked with Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt on two shows, Portfolio Revue and Philemon. Kathrin worked extensively at Manhattan Punch Line Theater, and various regional theaters.
She was a regular in New York's cabaret circuit, appearing at many clubs, including Danny's Skylight Room, Don't Tell Mama, Steve McGraw's and at the cabaret convention at Town Hall.
She has recorded 2 CDs, of mostly her own original songs, Better Late Than..., and Land of Beginning Again, which is a collaboration with her longtime friend, guitarist Charlie Brown.
She is the author of two novels, Wild Again, and We Were Stardust.
