Chicago Folks Operetta Announces 'War and remembrance' Season
Chicago Folks Operetta (CFO) is proud to announce its 2017 season titled “War and Remembrance.” Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the United States' entry into World War I, the season includes the fully staged Chicago premiere of Kurt Weill's anti-war operetta Johnny Johnson, June 24 – July 9, “Kurt Weill and Paul Green: The Story Behind Johnny Johnson,” a lecture with performances featuring Weill Scholar Tim Carter, May 24 and the CFO premiere of a concert called Operetta and The Great War, June 28 and 29. USM Wind Ensemble to Perform FABLES AND STORYTELLING
The USM Wind Ensemble will explore music from the last one hundred years showcasing the abilities of our top performers in the School of Music through chamber music repertoire. The concert focuses on music of 'Fables and Storytelling,' including Robert Kurka's Good Soldier Schweik Suite, based on Czech author Jaroslav Hasek's great novel.
Brava Theater and African-American Shakespeare Co Present IPH 9/25
San Francisco's Brava Theater and African-American Shakespeare Company open their respective seasons with a collaborative production, the US Premiere of IPH... by playwright Colin Teevan. Dylan Russell helms this edgy, lyrical adaptation of Euripides' Greek tragedy Iphigenia at Aulis, featuring acclaimed actor and incoming African-American Shakespeare Artistic Director L. Peter Callender, Bay Area favorite C. Kelly Wright, and up-and-coming talent Traci Tolmaire.
