Los Angeles Master Chorale to Premiere SUNRISE: A SONG OF TWO HUMANS with New Score by Jeff Beal


The Los Angeles Master Chorale, led by Grant Gershon, Kiki & David Gindler Artistic Director, presents the world-premiere live-to-picture performance of Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal's new score for F.W. Murnau's iconic silent film Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 7:00 pm at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Actress Danielle Davy gives us a vivid incarnation of John Millington Synge's muse Molly Allgood, in a performance that is by turns hilarious and deeply moving. The play has been given a fine, deftly-directed trajectory thanks to Scena Theatre's Robert McNamara. The brogue is occasionally thick and of course it helps if you're familiar with the leading lights of the modern Irish stage, but Davy carries you through the evening effortlessly with Mollly's determination and her charm.

Howard Hawks, the quintessential Hollywood director known for his mastery of many genres, will be the subject of a complete retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image from today, September 7 through November 10, 2013. The Museum will present 39 features. All of the films will be shown in 35mm-many in stunning restorations-except for Red Line 7000, which will be shown in 16mm.

Music Box Announces Oscar-Winning Films Series


Oscar Season is in full swing; the big, end-of-year releases are hitting theaters and nominations voting began Monday. From now until the awards ceremony on February 24, the film world is abuzz with Oscar predictions. The Music Box Theatre takes this opportunity to take a look at some past award winners and see how this year's crop stacks up! Oscar-Winning Filmsmatinee series features a roster of movies that have racked up at least three Academy Awards apiece. Oscar-Winning Films show weekends, December 29, 2012-February 24, 2013, 11:30 a.m. at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave., Chicago. Tickets are $7.25 at the box office.
