Classically trained, Emma Rose Kraus has played roles from Euripides to Brecht. She has performed in regional theatres and made her Off-Off-Broadway debut at La MaMa E.T.C. in “Extreme Whether”, written and directed by Karen Malpede.
?
Kraus is currently a student at University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and will graduate this April with her B.A. in Theatre Arts. She has a history of performance going back to childhood. She was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she joined Tulsa Youth Opera at age 9. With TYO she performed in the choruses of “Hansel and Gretel” (Tulsa Opera) and “Carmina Burana” (Tulsa Ballet) and as a Gossip in “Noah's Flood” (Tulsa Youth Opera). She also performed in local productions. Further roles include Amiens/Hyman in “As You Like It”, Snug in “A Midsummer Night's Dream”, and Lucy in “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”, among others.
?
During college Kraus has been heavily involved in most of the mainstage performances produced by USAO during her time there, whether it be onstage or backstage. Notable roles include Delia in “Bedroom Farce”, Cassandra in “Hecuba”, Henrietta in “Suppressed Desires”, Cheryl in “Mysteries of the Bridal Night”, the Red Head in “The Love Talker”, and the Philosopher/Monk Inquisitor/Duke in “Life of Galileo”. She also took on a role in a Theatre of the Oppressed company out of Oklahoma City Community College for a production of “Cop in the Head” and was also, during these years, invited to perform onstage with The Second City travelling company.
?
While at USAO Kraus has studied Chekhov, Meisner, Stanislavski, Impro, Laban, Viewpoints, Suzuki, Shakespeare, Classical Style, and the Alexander technique along with theatre literature, history, and directing. She has received further training in Physical Acting under Dan Kamin, Intimacy for the Stage under Tonia Sina, and Theatre of the Oppressed under Brent Noel.
?
While in college, Kraus also did her first regional theatre work when she played Ginny in “5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche”, produced by Red Dirt Theatre Company.

Kraus is a self-proclaimed 'history buff'. She is a member of the scholastic history honor society Phi Alpha Theta, studied Greek, Roman, and Hellenistic World history and theatre, and spends her free time reading Classical lyric poetry and travelling to see ancient ruins on top of mountains. She is also an active member of the scholastic theatre honor society Alpha Psi Omega and is the current Vice President of her cast.

She is a passionate ecofeminist and gay rights activist and has done journalism work for regional LGBTQ+ and university newspapers. Her interest in performing began when she was 3 and she began singing Irish folk songs with her grandfather at nursing homes and variety shows. To this day she still knows all the words.

Currently Kraus is in New York City for the March 1-18 run of “Extreme Whether” by Karen Malpede at La MaMa E.T.C. in which she plays as Annie alongside actors Rocco Sisto and George Bartenieff.
