Elliot Choate

Elliot Choate is a rising musical theatre performer originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, currently pursuing his BFA in Music Theatre at Elon University. Recognized as a California Arts Scholar, Elliot grew up on the Northern California stage, fostering a deep passion for storytelling, vocal performance, and comprehensive dance training spanning Fosse, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop.

Elliot is originating the role of Henry in the highly anticipated world premiere of Antigone 1989: A Town Hall Musical with Vine & Light Productions and Rhymes with Purple at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe (Gilded Balloon Patter House). This groundbreaking, civic-minded production brings Elliot into collaboration with a powerhouse creative team, including book writer and renowned dramaturg Ken Cerniglia—celebrated for his pivotal work developing the multi-Tony Award-winning Broadway hits Hadestown and Peter and the Starcatcher, as well as over 70 Disney Theatrical titles including Newsies and Aladdin—and composer/lyricist Chris Rayis, an acclaimed conductor and composer whose extensive Broadway and national tour credits include Hamilton, Disney's Frozen, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The production is directed by Elizabeth McKoy, the esteemed director, producer, and founder of the award-winning Berkeley Playhouse.

A long-standing alumnus of the Berkeley Playhouse, Elliot’s extensive regional and educational credits include starring roles such as Ralphie in A Christmas Story: The Musical and James in James and the Giant Peach, alongside favorite roles like Bobby Child in Crazy For You, Billy J. Crocker in Anything Goes, and Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie. His foundational work in the Bay Area also includes celebrated performances as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Billy Flynn in Chicago, and Sam Carmichael in Mamma Mia! at Sonoma Academy.

At Elon University, Elliot continues to refine his artistic craft and will soon appear in the company of Come From Away (Kevin T./Garth u/s). A versatile 6'0" baritone, his technical training includes Meisner technique under Kevin Otos, Mikhail Chekhov and Stanislavsky methodologies under Julian Stetkevych, and contemporary scene study under Jenifer Coté. Deeply dedicated to exploring the intersections of music, movement, and meaningful human connection, Elliot is passionate about being involved in new, powerful musical creation.
