The New School's Mannes School of Music announces their Spring 2019 concert season. The season continues to set Mannes apart as a music school with a distinct appetite and commitment to new and experimental work.

Flutist Claire Chase, whom The New Yorker describes as "the young star of the modern flute," continues her 23-year project, Density 2036, to commission an entirely new body of repertory for solo flute each year between 2014 and 2036, the 100th Anniversary of Edgard Varese's groundbreaking flute solo Density 21.5. On March 1 & 2, Chase continues these immersive and virtuosic performances with the premiere of part vi at The Kitchen.

Performances Announced For 2018 Bang on a Can Marathon, Featuring 10 Hours of Free Live Music

In a musical spectacular, Turning Point Ensemble and arguably Canada's boldest composer, John Oswald, pay tribute to two masters - Frank Zappa, the man, the myth and the moustache, and Edgard Varese, one of the twentieth century's great composers. Turning Point Ensemble will expand to 30 instruments to bring Zappa's music to the PuSh Festival.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic's multimedia presentation of Edgard Varese's Ameriques, will replace the previously announced presentation of Berlioz' Romeo & Juliet at Walt Disney Concert Hall, November 6, 7 and 9. The Berlioz presentation was to have featured a newly-commissioned video by Refik Anadol to accompany a complete performance led by LA Phil Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen, however, technical elements relating to the production have required its postponement. Varese's Ameriques, conducted by Salonen, will feature a new video created by Anadol for the piece. The new program explores the works of European composers, such as Igor Stravinsky and Edgard Varese, who emigrated to the U.S. during the turbulent years of the early 20th century, and how their "new world" inspired them.

Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director, today announced Carnegie Hall's 2011-2012 season, consisting of 180 performances and extensive education and community programs, featuring collaborations with many of the world's greatest musicians and ensembles from the worlds of classical, pop, jazz, and world music, and performances presented on Carnegie Hall's three stages and throughout New York City.
