Donald Anthony Jordan

BIO

As a 35 year veteran of professional theater in the United States and internationally (having worked in all the “lower 48” states, throughout Canada and in Israel) Don Jordan has enjoyed a multifaceted career. This theatrical “Jack-of-all-trades” has served variously as an Artistic Director, director, stage manager, scene & properties designer, scenic painter, production manager, technical director, actor and stand-up comic. Performing Credits include touring in leading roles with the national, international and California companies of the Broadway hit 42ND STREET, and Off-Broadway in Circle Rep’s OUT AT SEA, as well as work at many of the nation’s most respected regional theaters, including the Addison Theatre Center, Atlanta’s Alliance/ACT, City Rep in Oklahoma, Casa Manana, Dallas Rep, Dallas Theater Center, Florida’s Golden Apple Theater, New York’s famed Gateway Playhouse, Kansas City’s TYA Theater, Lyric Stage of Texas, Lyric Theater of Oklahoma, the Mule Barn Theater of Mo., Music Theatre of Wichita, Stage West, and many more.


Among the hundreds of artists Don has worked with are many award recipients and nominees, including TONY winners; director Adrian Hall, director Grover Dale, director /choreographer Chet Walker, director/choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, and designer Eugene Lee. Additional TONY, OSCAR, and EMMY recipients and nominees Don has collaborated with include Kristin Chenowith, Lainie Kazan, Paul Winfield, Debra Winger and Liam Neeson, Steve Martin, CITY REP’s own resident director Michael Jones, director Robert Benedetti, designer Tina Miller and many others. Don has also appeared with Henny Youngman and The Beach Boys during his hilarious forays into Stand-up comedy. Don is a proud 25 year member of Actors Equity Association, and was honored to serve his theatrical community as an elected representative for more than a decade.


Don has also been recognized for his outstanding commitment and interest in young adult artists and children and has worked and taught at many leading children’s theaters, including the Atlanta Children’s Theater, Dallas Children’s Theater, Seem To Be Players of Kansas, Theater for Young America in Kansas City and Wichita Children’s Theater, among many others.

A few of the hundreds of corporate clients Don has worked with include American Airlines, Bank of America, Bloomingdales, The Dallas Cowboys, Dillard’s, Disney, GTE, J. C. Penney’s, Pizza Hut, Rooms To Go, Sears, Sheraton, and, most gleefully, the toy campaign for STAR WARS EPISODE I.

Serving as CITY REP’s Founding Artistic Director, credits here include scenic designs/co-designs for I AM A TEACHER; DRIVING MISS DAISY; YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN; DIRTY BLONDE; BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS; THE BIG BANG; TUESDAY’S WITH MORRIE; BAD DATES; THE FANTASTICKS; THE MISER; THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE; THE 39 STEPS; and MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS, which he also directed. Onstage appearances for CITY REP include Max in LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, Jack Jerome in BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, THE OKLAHOMA CITY PROJECT, Doc Gibbs in OUR TOWN, the constable in THE MISER, the Spartan Herald in LYSISTRATA, Thurston, etc in A TUNA CHRISTMAS and Adolph Freitag in THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO.

In November 2011, Don was awarded the GOVERNOR’S ARTS AWARD in recognition of his leadership in the arts in Oklahoma. This lifetime achievement award is the highest honor given in the Arts in Oklahoma.

Don is proud alum of Oklahoma City University with a BA in Theater. He also holds an MFA in theater from Trinity University’s professional theater training program.
