David Dieni BIO

An East Coast transplant, David Dieni has performed music from classical to jazz, rock and theater for over twenty five years. He received a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory and a Masters in Percussion from the San Francisco Conservatory.

He served as principal percussionist with the Napa Symphony for two years and assistant principal with both the Sacramento Philharmonic and Stockton Symphony for seven years. He’s currently percussionist with the California Pops Orchestra and timpanist with the Golden Gate Park Band.

As a theater percussionist/drummer, recent shows include:

Cats and La Cage Aux Folles with Broadway By The Bay, Evita and Sunset Boulevard with Contra Costa Musical Theatre, Jacques Brel at the Marin Theatre Company, Into The Woods at CTA Crossroads Theatre and Ruthless with the California Cabaret. He has worked with Tony Taccone and the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in the Caucasian Chalk Circle. Mr. Dieni has also been fortunate to perform with the likes of Luciano Pavarotti, Dave Brubeck, Carol Channing, Judy Collins and Lee Meriwether.

Mr. Dieni has recorded for Koch International on the Ursala LeGuin/Eli Armer collaboration, Uses of Music in Uttermost Parts, and is a recipient of a Meet the Composer grant for his own music. He maintains a busy teaching schedule at the SF Drum School.
