BIO

Anna Simone Scott has worked globally as an actor and filmmaker. She received an Emmy® Nomination for her latest film, ‘Take My Heart’ in Outstanding Daytime Fiction. (writer/director). Ms. Scott garnered awards from Film Festivals for previous films, including her directorial debut, ‘The Aerial Girl’. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree: Theatre & Fine Arts: UNSW & Sydney Universities. Most recent theatre - Script in Hand Series, ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroyd’ at Westport Country Playhouse, CT. First role ever on stage: Peppina in ‘The Rose Tattoo’ (Sydney); Followed by lead roles on London stages, such as new works at: The Roundhouse; ICA Theatre and The Gate. Followed by Repertory Theatre throughout the UK Favorites include: Sarah, ‘The Norman Conquests’; Kristina, Strindberg’s ‘Easter’; Hannah, ‘California Suite’, (Pacific Tour). Ms. Scott was also seen on BBC and ITV TV series in various roles. New York credits include: Off-Broadway Karolyn in ‘Taster’s Choice’ South St. Theatre, Theatre Row; Elizabeth, ‘The Crucible’ with The Ensemble Company at Roundabout Theatre; Susan, ‘Off Year Election’ ATA Theatre; Sarah, ‘The Lover’ Theatre Gym. Theatre in Los Angeles includes: Theatre East and Complex Theatre productions of Ms. Scott’s play, ‘Chasing Chekhov’. ‘Anon’ with The Echo Theatre Company; ‘Lost in the Movies’ at The Court Theatre. Ms. Scott has appeared in Guest, Recurring and Co-Starring roles on TV such as: Martial Law; Days of Our lives; Another World; As the World Turns, and the popular Web Series, ‘Atwill’. Her film, ‘Chasing Chekhov’ adapted from her play, won Best Film & Screenplay at the BAFTA Los Angeles Members’ Film Festival plus other awards on the international festival circuit. Ms. Scott has also played a variety of roles in many independent feature films. She is currently attached to direct the feature films: ’Salt Creek’, a western (co-writer) and the family drama, ‘Summer Wine’. With her film company, VisionFire Films, She is penning ‘Of Corsica’; and ‘This Dream Life’ adapted from her play, ‘The Grass Couch’. The play was developed with The Directors Company in New York. Memberships include: AEA; SAG-AFTRA; BAFTA; The Dramatists Guild of America, and New York Women in Film & Television.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of “Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” on Monday, June 12, at 7 p.m.  From the novel by Agatha Christie, the cunning tale of murder and deception is a brand new adaptation for the stage by Mark Shanahan, who will also direct. This summer, the Alley Theatre in Houston will stage the play’s world premiere production.
