Review: ALIX KOREY WOWS A FULL HOUSE AT CV REP'S CABARET SERIES

Alix Korey, Alix Korey, what an outstanding entertainer you are!  It's no wonder that an appreciative audience (including me) stood up as one to acknowledge your performance at the Cabaret Series season opener at CV Repertory, Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Considering Alix's extensive career on Broadway, one might expect to enjoy a program of the top 20 songs from Broadway scores.  Surprise!  Alix's choices were a step above:  melodic, lesser-known numbers with clever and beautiful lyrics that showcased her talent--a perfect ear and a powerful range.  It was a wonderful 75-minute break from the ordinary.

I'm always delighted to see Wayne Abravanel at the piano. Wayne's arrangements and his accompaniment are without peer.  He and Alix worked together in perfect collaboration.  Over the years, Wayne's music direction has enhanced the performances of some of the best,. well-known singers.  He is also a respected music educator and has lent his talents to theater productions and entertainers throughout the area.  To me and many others familiar with his work, Wayne IS music.
