CVRep Writers Group Will Hold Auditions For Local Actors To Appear In Public Readings

The Writers Group at the Coachella Valley Repertory Conservatory will hold open auditions to create a list of local actors interested in participating in the group's public readings of new and developing works for the stage. All levels of acting experience are welcome.

The auditions will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, beginning at 10:00 a.m. They will be held at the CVRep Conservatory in the Atrium, 69-930 Hwy 111, Suite 107, Rancho Mirage. Actors interested in auditioning should contact the Writers Group at CVRepwritersgroup@gmail.com or call 302-228-8176 to reserve a time slot.

The Writers Group is part of the CVRep Conservatory program to advance the theatrical arts in the Coachella Valley. The group is made up of local and seasonal writers - nationally-recognized professionals as well as non-professionals - who work in a variety of forms. Throughout the year the group holds public readings of works in progress by its members. These can include short plays, scenes from longer plays, monologues, memoirs, etc.

"These auditions are about our readings, they are not being held for consideration in CVRep productions," said Andy Harmon, who facilitates the Writers Group and will lead the auditions. "They are an opportunity for local actors to practice their craft, for our writers to become acquainted with the wealth of local acting talent they can draw on, and for all of us to develop the collaborative skills so essential to our work."

Harmon is an internationally accomplished director, playwright, author, and instructor in improvisation. Public readings by the CVRep Writers Group are held several times a year and typically attract an audience of 50-75 local and seasonal theatre-lovers.
