Surfside Players Present BABY WITH THE BATHWATER, 10/1-10/10
By: Lauren Wolman
Surfside Players, Cocoa Beach, is proud to announce Baby with the Bathwater, by Christopher Durang, one of Broadway's most provocative writers of black comedy. This time the author's target is parenthood and child-raising in the modern age. As the play begins Helen and John gaze proudly at their new offspring, a bit disappointed that it doesn't speak English and too polite to check its sex. So they decide that the child is a girl and name it Daisy-which leads to all manner of future emotional and personality problems when it turns out that Daisy is actually a boy. Through the rest of the play, the saga of Daisy's struggle to establish his identity continues, despite his parents' growing obliviousness.
Performance dates are October 1-10 (two weekends), Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 p.m., Sundays 2:00 p.m. All tickets are $10. Reservations may be made at (321) 783-3127. Warning: Play contains adult themes and occasional strong language. For mature audiences only. Persons younger than 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.Directed by Nick Saldivar
