Breakthrough Theatre Cancels TICK...TICK...BOOM!, Reschedules for Feb. 2015

The Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park just announced the cancellation of its production of TICK, TICK...BOOM!.

"With a heavy heart, I must announce that our production of "Tick, Tick, Boom" is officially cancelled," says Breakthrough Theatre. "We lost one of our lead actors on opening day, which threw us for a loop. Another actor generously stepped in to learn the role. We had two rehearsals, but he decided it was just too much to learn in too little time, which is perfectly acceptable. The cast and crew are heartbroken, but we have all accepted that it just wasn't meant to be at this time. On the bright side, the musical will be rescheduled for February! More details to follow."

The Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park was presenting the Jonathan Larson musical, "Tick, Tick...Boom!", from November 13-24, 2014.

Before Rent, there was Tick, Tick...Boom!. This autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, the Pulitzer Prize- and TONY Award-winning composer of Rent , is the story of a composer and the sacrifices he made to achieve his big break in theatre. Tick, Tick...Boom! takes you on the playwright/composer's journey that led to a Broadway blockbuster.

His girlfriend, Susan, wants to get married and move out of the city, his best friend, Michael, is making big bucks on Madison Avenue, and yet Jon is still waiting on tables and trying to write the great American musical. Set in 1990, this compelling story of personal discovery is presented as a rock musical filled with instantly appealing melodies and a unique blend of musical theatre styles.
