The Rose Theater's Teens ‘N' Theater Young Directors Project will present A Midsummer Night's Dream March 18 and 20 and 21, in The Rose's Hitchcock Theater.

The Young Directors Project, now in its fifth year, begins each fall as a class for young people interested in directing Theater Productions. The program is designed to give these young directors the opportunity to direct a fully produced play in a professional theater environment.

The Young Directors Project allows students to be involved in every aspect of their production. The group worked together to cut the script for A Midsummer Night's Dream and were then assigned an act of the production to manage. They have each organized a distinct concept for their portion of the show, which is reflected in costumes, sets, props, and acting styles.

Unlike other Teens ‘N' Theater Productions, with The Young Directors Project students are
mentored by adults. The students drive the production.

"I love seeing young people blossom with confidence and talent as they explore the world of theater," said mentor and Youth Productions Manager, Jim Hoggatt. "I work with kids and teens every day. I see improved social skills, realization of abilities unknown before, growing self-confidence, establishment of long-term friendships, and a discovery of a love for art as the process moves along."

Teens ‘N' Theater performances are held in the intimate black-box Hitchcock Theater on the fourth
floor of The Rose Theater. Performances will be offered Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, March 20 and Sunday, March 21 at 4:30 p.m. The production is recommended for ages 13 and up.

Tickets are $6 each and are available through The Rose Theater Box Office at (402) 345-4849.
Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Box Office, located at 2001 Farnam Street, in
advance or the day of the show.

The Rose's 2009-2010 Teens ‘N' Theater season is sponsored by the Mammel Foundation and the
Nebraska Arts Council
