AMP Announces Concert Season-Including DARREL SCOTT, HARD ROAD, 8/4-9/23 TRIO And More!

By:

August is just around the corner, so we figured we'd let you know what we had in the works. We start with a CD release party with the Las Cruces-based Hard Road Trio. Their new CD was recorded in and named for Monticello New Mexico, which turns out to be home to some of the finest artisan balsamic vinegar in the country. Who knew? We'll have a special tasting and champagne toast to celebrate their new CD.

Other highlights of the month include a visit from the legendary Buffy Sainte-Marie. At 70 she is rocking harder then she did IN the 70's, putting me in mind of Tina Turner. Her music is still powerful and relevant. That show is a benefit for the Roadrunner Foodbank too.

And there are a couple of sleeper highlights too. Both Shannon McNally and Darrell Scott are fantastic songwriters. Darrell is one of the premier Americana sidemen out there, playing in Robert Plant's Band of Joy and in Sam Bush's band. And he's won just about every songwriting and instrumental award imaginable. Shannon doesn't have quite the resume, but she has carved out her own niche as a fiercely independent artist who shifts and swerves in unpredictable ways on every release. Though where she is reliable is as a stellar performer. We were so excited that she was in town that we invited her to open for Buffy the day before her gig at Low Spirits.

September will of course be dominated by ¡Globalquerque!, but we'll tell you more about that later. And in a moment of foolishness, we decided the chance to present Laurie Anderson's brand new piece during ISEA2012 was too good to pass up, so we went ahead with that even though it is the day after ¡Globalquerque!. Who needs sleep anyway?
You can find information on all of these shows below. Scroll down for details on the next two months of shows, including interview contacts and our full schedule of confirmed shows to date (which can also be found at www.ampconcerts.org).
