Movimento Project Contemporary Dance Concert to Explore the Paradox of our Times
Now in its fourth year of collaborative production, the Movimento Project will present “PARADOX 2018,” a contemporary dance concert.
PARADOX 2018 choreographically explores love, fear, and other aspects of living in our socially, culturally, and politically constructed world. The performance reflects on paradoxes in the web of existential situations that define our times, but defy the common logic of understanding and of living. Opposites define one another, seemingly depend on each other, yet in today’s world seemingly seek to annihilate one another.
Questions of gender, race, social class, ethnicity, and politics are among the concert’s mosaic of themes, where what is individually lived or perceived echoes in a wider range of collectivity. Are we one, or are we many? Are we this, or are we that, too?
Based in Brewster, Mass., The Movimento Project brings together Cape Cod and international choreographers for collaborative exploration, teaching, and creation. Leda Muhana (Brazil) and David Iannitelli (USA) provide artistic direction for a cast of 11 choreographer/dancers in “PARADOX 2018.”
