Line Death Dance was originally a performance residency conceived by artist Melanie Maar for ritualizing The Chocolate Factory Theaters transition from their old building into their new one in Queens. After two live performance phases, the pandemic redirected her to envision and create in other mediums and the project became a newsletter presenting the works of featured artists in light, sound, design, dance, film and visual art. Now in the form of a book (co-edited by Maar and Laura Atwell) with images from the dance, these newsletters will be presented along with a short film (made in the yet un-rennovated space and its surroundings) made as a sequel to the project, and artist talk - all in a celebration of the birthing of these works.
