“One drink. And if you never want to see me again you never have to see me again.”
A quantum physicist and a beekeeper meet at a barbecue. They hit it off, or perhaps they don’t. They go home together, or maybe they go their separate ways. In the multiverse, with every possible future ahead of them, a love of honey could make all the difference…Nick Payne‘s beautiful and heartbreaking romance Constellations, originally opened at the Royal Court in 2012 before opening on Broadway in 2015. It is a play about free will and friendship, quantum multiverse theory, love, and honey.
Constellations is an innovative and captivating love story that defies time and space. The play explores the infinite paths that two people can take to be together or be apart. The play follows Roland, a beekeeper, and Marianne, a quantum physicist, who meet by chance, through the most unlikely romantic relationship. Their journey defies the limits of our understanding of a multiverse. The possibilities are limitless in parallel moments over the course of their relationship. Are they meant for each other, or will they explore other realms?
Their world embraces the concept of “what if” in the vast possibilities of a future within an expansive universe, where their shared love of honey could be the defining factor above all …
Running time 85 mins / No intermission
