Vagina Rights is about an eclectic group of women who fight for their rights by creating a vagina rights code. The production brings awareness to sex-trafficking, genital mutilation, depression, transgender issues, and women rights. The play was accepted into the Strawberry One-Act festival and will open July 15th at The Theatre at St. Clement's 423 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036. Tickets are available at www.therianttheatre.com.

The play is written and directed by Shaneisha Dodson, the founder of Black Girlz Productions. Dodson was born in Arkansas and currently resides in Texas. She earned a B.A. in psychology at Grambling State University, a M.A. in counseling at Dallas Baptist University, and an Ed.S in adult learning at Walden University. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her accomplishments and literary works: 2016 ACHI magazine screenwriter of the year, 2016 Black Women Are (Inspirational) award winner, 2015 Best Playwright, 2015 Extraordinary Person Honoree, Who's Who of Small Business, celebrated for being an entrepreneur during women's history month, and 2011 Literary Excellence award winner for her teen self-help book. In 2012, she took her love of the arts to the next level and founded Black Girlz Productions (BGP).

The play features Priya Bhandari, Billie Wyatt, Sole Rodriguez, and Laura Walters. The winning playwright will take home a $4000 prize and will have an opportunity to have a full-length play produced in NYC. This is a show that you don't want to miss.
