Untitled Theater Company #61 (UTC61) presents Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, an original stage adaptation of Philip K. Dick's sci fi noir classic about androids and a bounty hunter, Rick Deckard, who loves them/loves to kill them. The book inspired the film Blade Runner, but this adaptation returns to the original novel's ideas about a post-apocalyptic world seeking resurrection through the rediscovery of empathy. The production uses innovative video techniques to blur the lines between humanity and technology, finding the soul within the machine.

For this project, UTC61 has been granted a residency at 3LD, a theater known for its unmatched technological possibilities. That technology will be used to enhance the production both visually, using multiple projectors mixing live feed with prerecorded images, and aurally, using a mixture of electric cello, live looping, and operatic performance by Moira Stone of Henry Akona's original score. Other cast members include Alex Emanuel and Yvonne Roen in the roles of Rick Deckard and Rachael Rosen; downtown vaudeville impresario Trav SD in the role of talk show host Buster Friendly; Ian W. Hill, artistic director of Gemini CollisionWorks; as well as Timothy Babcock, Saysha Heinzman, Uma Incrocci, Christian Pedersen, and Ken Simon.

UTC61 is a Theater of Ideas: scientific, political, philosophical, and above all theatrical. UTC61 previous productions and events have included Cat's Cradle, a calypso musical based on the book by Vonnegut; The Václav Havel Festival; the NEUROfest (plays about neurology); the Off-Broadway production of Fairy Tales of the Absurd; and The Velvet Oratorio, which premiered last year at the Walter Bruno Theater at Lincoln Center.
