New York-based theater company, Thirsty Turtle Productions (TTP) is kicking off its 2008-2009 season with a rocked-out fundraiser, sponsored by The Brooklyn Brewery, at New World Stages on Sunday, May 25th (Memorial Day weekend).  The party includes amazing performances, free beer and wine and bonus prizes.

As part of its mission to recognize and support emerging artists in New York, TTP is delighted to have three exciting musical guests – Panther Tighter, Tom LoSchiavo and Lucas Carpenter – on hand to provide the necessary jams to dance the night away.*

*Note: TTP recommends cocktail/booty-shaking attire to fully dance said night away.

During the fundraiser, TTP will be announcing details on their summer Workshops Series. In keeping with their tradition of innovation, TTP plans to spend the summer workshopping three new, un-produced works in a hyper-collaborative manner.  Three ensembles, three directors, three new works, a hundred dollars each; these plays will be presented as works in progress for one week in repertory this summer, and you may see one of them in the future as a full production.

About TTP

One night in January 2004, a diverse group of students gathered in a small studio apartment in downtown Manhattan and said, "hey, we all love theater, we all can't see ourselves living without it - let's start something!"  Thus, TTP was born.

The name?  Ask anyone what a thirsty turtle looks like, and from old men to wee little babes, you'll see them make the same scrunched up, pouty little face - pretty neat.  Something sweet and simple that ties TTP together.  If that isn't something special, then consider them quenched.

TTP's mission is to tell stories that explore the threads connecting fantasy and reality, finding truth in the muddy in-between.  TTP seeks to create a venue for new and emerging local artists, force equal creative collaboration and produce diverse, eclectic work that reflects those who've created it.
