Theater For The New City Presents FAT ASSES: THE MUSICAL
Take off those Spanx and get ready to let loose for FAT ASSES: THE MUSICAL. Theater for the New City, Crystal Field, Executive Director is thrilled to present the return of the revamped musical/comedy May 3-20, 2018. From the writers of the FringeNYC favorite Parker & Dizzy's Fabulous Journey to the End of the Rainbow, Peter Zachari and Damon Maida reunite to present this hilarious and thought provoking musical described as "The First Wives Club meets 9 to 5."
FAT ASSES: THE MUSICAL follows the crusade of three larger-than-life ladies who find themselves ostracized from their friends, families and even their weight-loss support group. Fed up of feeling invisible, Margaux, Candy and Lacey join forces with the militant newcomer Dustine and decide to storm the offices of the fashion magazine, Gaunt. When the girls are thrust into an immediate spotlight of social media adoration, they are forced to confront their deepest and sometimes deadliest secrets. Songs include, "Fed Up!" "Showstopper," "Loving You Is a Dying Art," "A Taste of Fashion," and "We're All the Rage" and more.
Featuring rollicking performances by Emily Jewell (Beauty and the Beast; National Tour), Sydney Blair (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer The Musical; National Tour), Lori Funk (Under the Knife; Theater for the New City), Amandina Altomare (Stiff;Barrow Group), Itanza Wooden (One Love; Under the Knife; Theater for the New City), Kegan Witzki,Lisa McDonough, and Scott Michael Salame. Peter Zachari directs the production with musical direction by Robert Cookman (Cabaret; National Tour) and choreography by Joey Mirabile (Parker & Dizzy's Fabulous Journey to the End of the Rainbow; FringeNYC).
