About The Show
Mary-Kate Olsen is in Love: A New Play Reading by Mallory Avidon.
Characters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are used to personify our youth culture's dependence on media to determine self worth and sense of identity. Over the course of the play, struggles in the "real lives" of these two media icons and the people they effect create heartbreaking relationships and deeper friendships than anyone thought possible. Through real personal experience they are freed from the pressures of what is expected and allowed to follow what's in their hearts. And, of course, they destroy a few lives and marriages along the way.
A satire on modern media and commercial influences within the American culture, Mary-Kate Olsen Is In Love is the first play in the Attic's inaugural season of the Emerging Playwrights Reading Series.
The Emerging Playwrights Program Staged Reading Series consists of a workshop and staged reading of four new plays chosen from submissions that have been solicited from current students and recent graduates MFA playwriting programs.
