The Bridge Theatre Company presents the New York premiere of Michael Rubenfeld's Spain December 4 through 14 at The Bridge Theatre at Shetler Studios (244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor).

Spain is a dark, sexy comedy that finds two buddies testing the limits of their platonic relationship, and discovering the pitfalls of indecision. While Eric's girlfriend Beth is away on an art residency, he grows extremely close to his best friend Jared. Upon Beth's return, the trio must decide where to draw the line between romance and friendship.

Spain was named Outstanding New Production/Play by NOW Magazine when it premiered at Toronto's SummerWorks Theatre Festival in 2004. Playwright Michael Rubenfeld recently directed his Dora-nominated play, My Fellow Creature, for Absit Omen Theatre/Buddies in Bad Times Theatre in Toronto.  He is also the Artistic Producer of the SummerWorks Theatre Festival and co-artistic director of Absit Omen Theatre with Hannah Moscovitch.

Shana Gold directs the New York premiere.  The production stars Esther Barlow (Humans Anonymous), Todd d'Amour (Stanley), and Michael Rubenfeld.  The creative team includes Robin A. Paterson (lighting design) and Chad M. Brinkman (set design).  Becky Lynn Dawson is the stage manager.

Tickets are $18 at www.theatermania.com or (212) 352-3101.  Performances are Thursday, December 4 through Friday, December 12 at 8:00 pm at The Bridge Theatre at Shetler Studios (244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor, between Broadway and 8th Ave. Subway: C/E to 50th or A/C/B/D or 1 to 59th).  There is no performance on Monday, December 8.  There are two preview performances December 2 and 3 at 8:00 pm.
