The Rehearsal - a new play starring Richard Vetere, written by Brad Forenza, and directed by Brian Dashew - will be read as part of the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival (BBTF), Incubator Reading Series, on Thursday August 16, 2018 at 5pm at the Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 4th Street, NYC).

The Rehearsal takes place during the wedding weekend of Eric (Derek Henriksen) and Kim (Alicia Ann). All the ambitious couple want is to start their new life far, far away from the groom's mundane family (Mike Folie and Rosie Gunther), and the self-martyrdom of the bride's mother (Barbara Butcher). But when an absentee relative arrives unannounced for the rehearsal dinner (award winning writer, Richard Vetere), an emotional maelstrom is unleashed for the bride and groom.

"The Rehearsal is a play about one, specific family," says Vetere. "However, the themes explored are universal."

"Weddings are really the only time you are asked to make a conscious decision to permanently alter who you are relative to those around you, which inherently means an opportunity for self-reflection and self-discovery," notes director, Brian Dashew. "In The Rehearsal, characters are forced to reconcile their relationships in the context of those heightened stakes."

"The BBTF, which was founded in part to help playwrights actualize their work, is the perfect venue to 'incubate' The Rehearsal," adds playwright Brad Forenza. "I am honored that a stellar team is working to bring these characters to life, and equally humbled by the amazing souls who helped The Rehearsal reach this level, through their earlier involvement."

The BBTF is in its second year of operation. The Rehearsal premieres as part of the festival's incubator reading series on Thursday August 16, 2018 at 5pm. Tickets to The Rehearsal are free, and can be reserved via: https://www.broadwayboundfestival.com/events/the-rehearsal
