TADA! YOUTH THEATER to Hold Summer Camps; Holds Open House May 5

By:

TADA! YOUTH THEATER, the Drama Desk and Coming Up Taller Award-winning organization, is currently registering mini thespians ages 6-8 and 9-14 for their weekly summer camps in
musical theater. Create and perform a mini-musical...in just five days…with Professional Teaching Artists directing scenes and musical numbers from original TADA! musicals and Broadway/Off-Broadway shows.  Each week has a new theme from Broadway Bieber to TADA!'s Got Talent to "Gleek" Out! and sure to be a lifetime of memories for the performers. New this summer, TADA! will also offer a two-week half-day program for kids ages 4-5 in both July and August, giving even younger singers and dancers the chance to participate. And all July campers will attend a performance of TADA!'s show "Everything About School (Almost)" for free.

Find out more about TADA!'s summer camps at the free open house event on Saturday May 5th. Enjoy a sample session and question and answer period with TADA! Teaching Artists and Education staff. More information is available at http://tadatheater.com/summercamps.asp.

Next up at TADA! Youth Theater (15 West 28th St. 2nd Fl.) April 27 through May 20th is the World Premiere of Up To You, directed by Janine Nina Trevens with book and music by Eric Rockwell and lyrics are by JoAnne Bogart.

It is 1977 and time to advocate for your beliefs and elect the candidate with the most promise. The jocks, cheerleaders, nerds, drama freaks and brains all jockey for power in this way cool musical that deals with themes of bullying, leadership and responsibility.

Also at TADA!: week-long musical theater camps will run on standard school breaks including the NYC public school break April 9-13. Kids stay creatively engaged while away from school, Monday – Friday, 9AM-2:30PM. Cost is $450 and "Afternoon Adventures" program can be extended to 5:30 for working parents and interested kids.

Since 1984, TADA! Youth Theater has been providing young people of all different backgrounds the opportunity to explore and perform musical theater together in an educational, supportive and professional environment. TADA! has received many honors and awards including the
American Alliance for Theater Education's Anne Flagg Multicultural Award, Family Circle Magazine's 1st Annual Halo Award, and more than a dozen National Youth Theatre Awards. Additionally, in 2008 TADA! was honored with a Coming Up Taller Award, our nation's highest honor for
youth development from the President's Committee on the Arts & Humanities, and in 2009 with a Special Drama Desk Award for "providing an invaluable contribution to the future of the theater." TADA! is the only youth theater to have won this prestigious award.

Every year, TADA! produces: original musical Theater Productions performed by kids for family audiences; a discounted ticket program; free pre-professional training and youth development opportunities through the Resident Youth Ensemble composed of over 80 NYC kids ages
8-18; renowned Arts Education in-school residencies and after-school programs; and theater classes and camps for kids of all ages taught by professional teaching artists and for which need-based financial aid is readily available.

TADA! programs are made possible, in part, by funding from Consolidated Edison, The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, The NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, and the New York State Council on the Arts. Special thanks also to The Harold and Mimi
Steinberg Charitable Trust and all other supporters for helping to fund the mission of TADA! Youth Theater. For more information visit www.tadatheater.com.
