Say Goodnight Gracie Presented At Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts

"Say Goodnight Gracie," the Tony-nominated one-man show starring Alan Safier as show business legend George Burns, will be presented for one performance only on Sunday, October 30th at 2:00 p.m., at the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts.

Following the performance, there will be an audience talk-back with Safier and "Gracie" playwright Rupert Holmes. Thom Geier, senior editor at "Entertainment Weekly," will moderate.
The hit Broadway play invites you to spend a hilarious and heart-warming afternoon in the uplifting company of the world's favorite and funniest centenarian. Burns, who spanned over 90 years of American entertainment history, is now alive and kicking - and singing and dancing! With vintage photographs and video clips from film and television performances, "Say Goodnight Gracie" brings to life Burns's fascinating story.

"Say Goodnight Gracie" is a multimedia presentation that also features the skillful vocal talents of actress Didi Conn (Frenchie from "Grease") as Gracie Allen, as well as evocative music and moving images from Burns's long life and good times. Author Holmes's other Broadway credits include the Tony Award-winning musical "The Mystery Of Edwin Drood," and he is also creator and writer of the nostalgic Emmy Award-winning comedy series "Remember WENN."

Alan Safier, who portrays Burns to perfection (including his trademark cigar and owl eye-glasses), celebrates five decades on stage, on television, in commercials and in voice-overs. He may be familiar to audiences from hundreds of television and radio voice-overs (notably as the Kibbles 'n Bits dog!) and from guest appearances on dozens of television series. He is starting his fourth season of touring with "Gracie." His new CD of American standards from the '30s and '40s, "Alan Safier Sings the Songs of George & Gracie's Heyday," was released in February, 2011.

"I grew up with the Burns and Allen television show, and I absolutely worshipped George Burns as a kid," Safier says. "It's one of the highlights of my career to actually BE him for 95 minutes every night. To have the audience go from tears of laughter to tears of sadness in a matter of seconds is one of the greatest rewards for an actor, and I enjoy that every night with this show."

"Say Goodnight Gracie" is the third longest-running solo performance play in Broadway history, and was nominated for a 2003 Tony Award for Best Play and won the 2003-04 National Broadway Theatre Award for Best Play.
