SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED, a new short play by playwright Stephanie Salazar-Amaro, will be presented as part of the New York Theater Festival's SummerFest 2018. The show is set to have its world premiere on September 13th at The Hudson Guild Theater in Chelsea, with an additional performance on September 14th before closing on September 16th.
Under the direction of Morgan Urbanovsky, the show stars Ashley Kristeen Vega as Ramona Canales and Rose Gutierrez as Magda.
Typically, customer service centers are wellsprings of disappointment and manipulation for customers wanting to return a damaged item. There are hoops and hurdles and other ridiculous obstacles placed between the customer and any sense of satisfaction. In Some Assembly Required, Ramona (Ashley Kristeen Vega) seeks customer service assistance from Magda (Rose Gutierrez) in resolving an issue of vital importance: a defunct reproductive system.
The New York Theatre Festival (NYTF) is for play & musical productions, including full-lengths, one-acts, shorts, and solos. These shows are hand-picked to be presented in the NY SummerFest or NY WinterFest, and allow a fair competition for productions and individuals to present their work on a New York stage while competing for cash prizes.
SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED was previously presented as a reading in the Ivy Theatre Company's 24 Hours of Women Festival. Tickets for the NYTF production of are available now: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3462151
