Radd Theatre Co.'s OUT OF THE BASEMENT Opens Tonight

Tonight, October 23rd is opening night for Radd Theatre Co.'s first off-broadway production, Out of the Basement, beginning 7:00pm at the American Theater for Actors. Writer and artistic director, Danny Coates-Finke, describes the play as "A scary, sometimes funny, always exciting journey down the rabbit-hole of masculinity and its consequences". Show has limited run, today, October 23rd - October 26th.

The play follows the story of Tucker Waits, played by Carson Higgins from American Idol and the national American Idiot tour. "Tucker is a dude to envy. Bestselling author, lover of women, champion of bros, he walks confidently until a group of fans take his work too far." says Coates-Finke. Out of the Basement is Directed by David Sicilliano, produced by Ann Beyersdorfer and Rachel Slotky. More information about the production and ticket sales here.

This production continues the national trend spotlighting sexual assault and rape culture. Several weeks ago It's On Us launched their viral video, featuring President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, encouraging individuals to take responsibility and stop sexual assault. Emma Sulkowicz' story has also gone viral; this is an issue people are ready to confront. Out of the Basement is a much needed lens for sexual assault, it offers an emotional learning opportunity that doubles as a stunning artistic display. Show will conclude with a topical discussion and debrief.

Radd Theatre Co. is made up of recent Syracuse University graduates and supports the Broadway Green Alliance's sustainable theater practices. The show has a limited run: October 23rd, 7pm, October 24th, 8pm, October 25th 2pm and 8pm and October 26th, 2pm. All performances will take place at the American Theater for Actors, 314 W 54th st.
