Photo Flash: THE TRIP's ORPHEUS & EURYDICE Begins This Week at Theaterlab NYC

By:

San Diego theater company THE TRIP, proudly brings their newly acclaimed cinematic stage adaptation to New York City. ORPHEUS & EURYDICE written and directed by Tom Dugdale (Humana Festival; Contemporary American Theater Festival; Hungarian Theater of Cluj; Princess Grace Award Winner), will play five performances at Theaterlab NYC (357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018). BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Through a blend of online content, live performance, and film, THE TRIP adapts the Orpheus & Eurydice myth in two parts. The lovers' relationship unfolds through a series of videos intended to be viewed before the performance (watch the videos here: http://www.thetriptheater.net/orpheus-videos.html). They fall more and more in love until unable to bear the distance any longer, they finally agree to meet in the flesh--actually, to get married. The wedding and the rest of their story is then staged as a live performance.

Featuring Joshua Brody (The Distance from Here - Almeida Theatre, UK; Our Town - La Jolla Playhouse, Without Walls Festival), Miranda Dainard, Tom Dugdale (The Marriage of Figaro; Macbeth - The Trip), Paul Marino (Popeye & Cloudy - Performed on the NY Subway, featured in NY Times; Utopia TM: Where All is True - Shakespeare in the Park, Berlin), Joey Odom, and Jenni Putney* (Venus in Fur - Philadelphia Theatre Company & George Street Playhouse; A Midsummer Night's Dream - Portland Center Stage).

With costume design by Desiree Hatfield-Buckley, lighting design by Maruti Evans, and sound design by Nick Drashner. Online videos by Tom Dugdale and production video by Karen Janssen.

Performances are Thursday, July 16th at 8pm; Friday, July 17th at 8pm; Saturday, July 18th at 8pm; Sunday, July 19th at 3pm; and Monday, July 20th at 8pm. Theaterlab NYC is located at 357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018. Tickets are $18.00 and available at www.theaterlabnyc.com or by calling 866-811-4111.
